The Law Commission The Law Commission is an independent, government-funded organisation, which reviews areas of the law that need updating, reforming or developing. It makes recommendations to Parliament, and these recommendations are published in its report series. The Law Commission helps ensure that laws provide effectively for the current and future needs of our rapidly changing society. Its goal is to achieve law that is just, principled, accessible, and reflects the heritage and aspirations of the peoples of New Zealand. Canadian Judicial Council The Canadian Judicial Council was created by Parliament in 1971 - Its statutory mandate is set out in subsection 60(1) of the Judges Act which establishes that the objects of the Council are to "promote efficiency and uniformity, and to improve the quality of judicial service in superior courts and in the Tax Court of Canada."
